Club Night Report 9th April 2025

portrait evening
10/04/2025
Last night was our portrait evening - never an easy event to stage, this year was particularly trying for Sarah, models kept cancelling with little notice!! Fortunately we managed to find 2 'willing 'volunteers', well 3 if you include the dog!! Chrissie and Lizzie were two very different models. They were both great, they entered into the spirit of the event and turned this way and that, looked up and down as requested! We are very grateful to them both - and Lizzie's adorable dog who was also long suffering and just lovely!!

It was a pleasant evening with time for people to exchange tips and give advice where wanted.

I know Chrissie would love copies of some of your images, she doesn't have a printer so, if you could print them and give the copies to me, or failing that email the jpgs to me and I could print them for her. I do not have info re Lizzie and images at the mo, but will let you know if I hear.

There were a few important notices so please keep reading!!

We have 2 important events in the Club's calendar. Firstly we have booked a small display stand at the May Fair in Wellington Park, for this we need some of your mounted prints and would appreciate it if you could leave your competition images with the Club (or bring in a couple of other lovely prints) to put on our display stands. We would also appreciate it if some of you (especially those local to Wellington) would 'pop' down to the Park on May 4th to be on the stand for an hour or so.

We also have the Pop Up Shop booked for the end of July. This is an important event - it promotes the Club in the local area and showcases some of the great work done by members, In the past it has been an important source of new members. We are asking again for some of your best images, mounted to display. A Collection Point and times will be arranged nearer the time, but can be brought into the Club at a meeting before the end of the season, if you are happy to leave them for that length of time.

Next week, a change of plan! Max is not able to show his slides and so we are having a Members' Evening when we would like to show what you have been up to lately!! (Photographically speaking!!). Bring some images(6 - 10) on a memory stick. It might be places you've been to, whacky images you wouldn't show in a competition or new projects you are working on, work in progress etc. Anything (within reason!!) goes!! We look forward to an entertaining evening with some great and unusual images. I know some members have been to interesting and exciting places recently!!

The last meeting of the year on April 30 is the AGM and social event. Please as usual, bring a plate of food to share and please do come along, its a chance to chat and maybe learn about some new developments that the committee have been working on behind the scenes!!

Next week is the competition!! Light and Shadow and Open, entries are all in - hopefully!

Nick told us of an upcoming event - A Point to Point at Cothelsone, which is just above Bishops Lydeard,. Cothelstone TA4 3DT Taunton, what three words leafing.probable.cookbooks. Point to Points are often great photo opportunities, and there are usually less restrictions on access etc.
