Club Night Report 8th January 2025
Out Of Then Dark...
09/01/2025
Simon Capland gave a great talk, a very friendly man, lots of amusing anecdotes but also very inspirational ideas with loads of images. It was mainly about still lifes, and where he had got his inspiration from, examining artists' work from the past. His website is well worth a look. I think everyone who was present (we were a 'select 'group!!) got something from the evening. He had brought many of his mounted images for us to look at and talk about during the tea break. I do hope he got back to Bristol ok last night!
Next week's meeting will start with the EGM, to complete the vote for the new Chairman, there is one candidate - Diane Rowe, she has been nominated for the role by Nick Farnahm and seconded by Polly Knowles (me!!)
Then the meeting proper will commence with the second of our Challenges, please bring in about 8 related images on a project, a place you often visit, a series of images on a similar subject etc. More details are on the website. Bring the images in on a memory stick and be prepared to say a few words about each. It's usually a really interesting evening and a chance to see other peoples' images in a non-competitive way.
It is also the last hand in date for the January competition - Macro or Close up and Open, please send images to wdcccompetitions@gmail.com. Full details re naming, sizing etc are on the WDCC website.
I have said that you won't receive Club emails from my personal email, I'm still working out how this change will work so another change of plan!! WCPF (Western Counties Photographic Federation) doesn't accept generic email addresses, so all emails from them come to my personal account. If any need forwarding to members, I will send them out from my personal email.
I am away - going somewhere warmer - for the next 3 meetings, I will be back 'on duty' at the beginning of February. Huw has kindly agreed to do reports and send out notices in my absence - thank you Huw.
