Wow!! What a competition last night!! A huge number of entries, which is great for a print competition - more and more people are now printing their images, and there were some examples of great presentation of images, lovely paper and print quality. And as for the images themselves, what a range of quality images. Our judge was Simon Caplan who had travelled from Bristol, he gave an animated and sometimes amusing critique of every image. He is a 'say it like it is' judge which was really refreshing. He said he was very impressed by the quality of the images and reminded us that it was important to produce images that pleased us and to enjoy our photography. As with most judges, he stressed that the results were his opinion taken a the time, another judge of another time would probably produce different results.

There were so many entries that only the first 3 images from each photographer were entered. Simon said that the quality of the images warranted him giving (unofficial) 'Judges' Honourable Mentions' to the three images in each class that just missed making the Top Ten.

Special Congratulations to Rachel Carter, who had all three images 'held back - 2 x Highly commended and a third place, she has leapt up the league table from 13th to 3rd! I will send out the league table later.

Huw informed the club that due to the increased numbers of entries, members should now only submit 3 images for competitions - (pdi or prints) to allow judges time to give a decent critique. It's only 2 weeks until hand in for the next competition - ‘Fete, festival or local event’ and Open
