Club Night Report 23rd October 2024
Still life flower evening...
23/10/2024
There was a great atmosphere in the Rugby Club last night for the Practical evening of Flower Photography. There was much exchanging of advice and information with everyone happy to share their knowledge and ideas. I think that everyone got something from the evening. It was such a great atmosphere and everyone I spoke to had really enjoyed themselves.
These evenings don't just happen!! Huge thanks to Sarah who had provided the ideas for the set ups, equipment and the flowers and was instrumental in making the evening such a success. She had put much thought into how the event would run and it certainly paid off. I felt the thing that made it such a success was the large number of set ups, backgrounds, flowers etc so that everyone could have a go. Also thanks to everyone who brought more 'stuff' to the evening; Ovi brought tones of equipment - it looked like he was setting up a shop!!, Martin B , Diane and Nick who brought 'items' in and others who I am not aware of, many thanks. And of course thanks to Rachel our tea lady for the evening!
If there is anyone else who was able to add their name to the tea rota, it would be much appreciated, just let me know - full training will be given!!
We welcomed an unexpected guest brought to the meeting by Ovi, who provided interest and another photographic opportunity, thanks to Ovi for bring his jumping spider along, (possibly appreciated by some more than others!!)
While I'm on the 'thank you' subject, I don't think that many people realise how much Mike Barrow, the equipment man does for a club evening. He brings the tea making box and other pieces of equipment and sets up before a club night, and at the end, loads it all into his car and is responsible for locking up, the key being in a key safe. I stayed with him last night while he locked up, that was no easy task, the key safe is not easy to operate! S huge thanks to Mike - we really do appreciate what you do.
I felt it was one of the most successful practical evenings that the club has held, there was certainly a buzz about the place and people were trying techniques that they were not familiar with and perhaps had not tried before. Well done everyone and more thanks to everyone for making it such a good evening
