March Competitions - 26th March 2025 Report
Last night was our March Competition - Themed - the Great Outdoors and Open Sections.
27/03/2025
Our judge was Richard Curzon, who I felt did a great job of appraising the images. I particularly appreciated that he didn't jump to assumptions or make sweeping statements about how an image was created, as some judges seem to - and get it wrong!! He gave a considered critique, giving positive comments about every image. He stressed that the results were his opinion, and the important thing is that we continue to take the photos that we like and enjoy doing it! I thought he was one of the best judges to come to the club, but that's only my opinion!!

Congratulations to everyone who was successful and also to those who were not this time, and thank you to everyone who enters - it makes a great evening!
The League Table of Scores for members is on the Photo Entry Web site -
https://compent.photoentry.uk/compent/
For those who couldn't attend last night (and for those that did), the images can all be viewed on the photoentry website. Many really great images!!
A few notices - Sarah talked about the forthcoming 'Portrait evening', (9th April), she asked for another model in case none of the emails that she has sent bring a result. If any member has a friend, relative or neighbour who would be willing to act as a model for us for the evening, please let Sarah or me know -Sarah Adams - s.a.8@hotmail.co.uk
The voting slips were for choosing the competition titles were again distributed and collected. They will be available and collected for the final time on the portrait evening. If anyone who would like to vote and hasn't and won't be able to attend the portrait evening, let me know and I can email you the list and it can be emailed back to me by that date.
That day - 9 April is also the hand in date for prints for the April Competition - Light and Shadow and Open, I haven't yet received instructions for uploading/sending the digital images so will send them to you when Huw lets me know. I expect it will be using Photoentry as we did for last night's competition - but I'll let you know.
A big shout out to Christopher who manned the computer with no hitches, as Huw was unable to stay due to a family emergency. Christpher had never used Dicentra before but it went like a dream - well done and very many thanks for stepping in.
Next week is our last zoom meeting of the season Jason Warham returns for his second- 'Safari Talk'. My presentations include images and insight from a Professional Safari Guide and photographer’s perspective. By showing a series of images rather than just those that are for me the most successful, I try to provide ideas for less experienced photographers as well as the more experienced. I enjoy evenings with an interactive audience, with questions and discussions throughout. I'll send the zoom link at the weekend as normal.
