Club Night Report 12th March 2025
The WCPF Travelling Members' Exhibition
14/03/2025
Last night was another successful 'Club Night'. We all looked at The WCPF Travelling Members' Exhibition. It was a most enjoyable evening, a very relaxed atmosphere with everyone voicing an opinion on the images that we looked at and attempted to critique and comment on. I think it proved yet again (on our table anyway) that everyone has a different opinion and there is no right and wrong answer!! If only it were that simple. We also found it hard to get away from 'I like it' or 'I don't like it' which is not really a valid critique statement!! Huw gave us some valuable pointers for critiquing images, which proved useful and if I remember, will prove useful in the future!!
The evening is a great way of seeing what trends are appearing in Club photography, also the fashion or trend in mounting the images. It was also a chance to 'catch up and have a bit of a chat with members.
Next week we have Laura Pearce in person at the Rugby Club - for her talk 'Portraits, Fashion, Beauty - My Photography' Laura will talk about the way she goes about portrait, beauty and fashion photography, from concept to the shoot and to how it all comes together for possible magazine publication.
It seems that members have managed the uploading of images to the new Photoentry competition website, it looks as though it will prove very useful and cut down on the work involved in staging competitions.
Diane did put out a plea for another helper to join the 'Competition Team', and a couple of people came forward, thank you so much. I think we now have enough help to enable us to run competitions - hopefully. We are in the process of working out how this will work!! Photoentry or similar certainly seems the way forward! If anyone has any comments, problems or difficulty - Huw will be able to help, I'm sure.
Nick asked for suggestions for Competition themes last week, we will be deciding these shortly, so if you have any suggestions and haven't submitted them, please do send them to me or Nick - nick@noillusion.co.uk before Monday.
