Club Night Report 27th November 2024

November competition, Open and 'Local Event'
28/11/2024
There was a good atmosphere and a nearly full house at last night's meeting which was our November competition, Open and 'Local Event'. As always, some great images, and the ones of a festival or local event were great fun and showed (mainly) lots of happiness and joy!) It was judged by Ian Bateman who gave a fair and considered judgement on the images. Again as always, he stressed that the results were his opinion and reminded us not to get upset or put off by his comments (I'll try not to get too suicidal!!)

Thanks to everyone who entered to make it a good competition and congratulations to all who were 'in the money' and specially to Martin Barber and Steve Wilcox who had all three of their images held back.

I have attached the League table - there have been lots of changes!! (Note to self - Try Harder!!)

Huw Thomas talked about images for competitions, while the Club wants to encourage members to go out and take new images, it is not feasible to police the 5 year ruling. It is preferable that all images are taken within the time, but reworking of old images is also fine.

Nick has asked me to put out a request for more images for the Club's ICC competition, so if you have not sent in any images, please do send in some of your best images, I have copied the previous instructions sent to you. Please send by Sunday evening. Also we are very short of mono images, so even if you have already sent in some images but have a beauty of a mono image lurking in your folders, please could you send it to Nick - I have copied the info previously sent out.
"So please email your best 3 images in either prints or DPIs or both, that have been taken in the past 2 years that we can consider for our entry. Please submit images for consideration by the selection group. So this means you can submit up to 6 images divided into DPI and Print submissions. Selection for the print submission will be made from pdis submitted by you, that you would be able to enter as prints, printed and mounted to a high standard. The images for both should be emailed to Nick -
nick@noillusion.co.uk
in 2 separate emails, one for the images for the print submission and one for DPIs, with 'Prints' or 'DPI' as the subject line of the email so that Nick can collate them accordingly. There are 3 categories - Mono, Nature and Colour, all of which must feature in our submission. Please make sure that any Nature images comply with the regulations for Nature images, and check that all images comply with all regulations - including all parts of the image being your own photos and that you can produce the RAW image
Every image must be titled and showing if it is Nature (N) Mono (M) or Colour (C)

On Wed 18 December it is our Christmas Social meeting - there will be 2 'Fun' Competitions, each with a bottle of wine for a prize. These will be judged by members who will vote for their favourite entry with a sticky dot on the reverse of their favourite entry, so do not put anything on the back that could identify the author.
1 - A Christmas Card designed by you
2 - As image that was taken on the 'Flower still life' evening, this should be printed (but not mounted) on any size paper up to A4
We will also be asking people to bring a plate of food to share on the evening.
The next 2 weeks are Zoom meetings - next week - 5 December we have Kevin Pigney ARPS DPAGB ASINWP talking to us on 'Flash techniques for wildlife photography.'
I think that's the lot!!
