Club Night Report 18th September 2024

"Abandoned Architecture" cancelled and replaced with "Minimalistic Photography"
18/09/2024
After the planned speaker for last night cancelled on the evening before he was due to deliver his talk on Abandoned Architecture, we were delighted to welcome Neil Scott to a zoom talk. Neil stepped in at the last minute after some frantic emailing by Diane, Sarah and Gail, so well done to them - it was a stressful morning but we managed also to get a backup plan together should a similar crisis occur again!!

Neil gave us a very stimulating and thought-provoking talk on his take on 'Minimalistic Photography', illustrated with loads of examples, some stranger than others!! I'm sure it gave us lots to think about and to experiment with - that's what I've been doing this morning!! It was a very interesting talk, I think some of us do some of the things he talked about sometimes, so I'm sure we will be trying some of his other ideas. Lots of clever and imaginative ideas. And huge thanks to Neil for stepping in and truly saving the day.

Only a couple of notices, next week is the competition, with the usual Open section and the Themed - which is a Literary theme! It will be interesting to see how people have interpreted that!! We have a bumper entry and Huw has had to cut the entry down to 3 images per person, first time that has happened for ages!! There will be some stiff competition I reckon!! Because of the large entry, Huw warned us to be prepared for a prompt start and as short a tea break as possible

Last week's speaker has asked that a donation is sent to Cancer Research UK in place of his fee, and this was discussed and will be done shortly.
