Wednesday evenings meeting was our first Challenge evening of this season and we were asked to bring in a memory stick with up to 8 pictures to make us smile or laugh. The offerings covered a wide variety of subject matter, some eliciting a smiling ‘Awww’ and others producing a full laugh.
We had animals, particularly dogs, closely followed by birds; people in costumes, for events or just for fun; children, prompting both fond smiles and enthusiastic laughter; signs, either deliberately or accidentally humorous; and a miscellany of other subjects and situations from kitchen accidents to sport and from phone boxes (re-purposed or not) to a duck toilet seat.
It was a very enjoyable and upbeat evening and an insight, not just into what subject matter the members like to photograph, but also into our collective sense of humour..
Next weeks meeting is a Zoom meeting with Marko Dutka giving his talk on ‘Professional Portraiture’ – what it takes to be a people photographer. I will send out the zoom link at the weekend as usual.
