Last night’s meeting was our February competition. The theme was ‘Weather’ and, as always, the Open section. Our judge for the evening was Rose Atkinson.
Starting with the themed images Rose explained that when she was judging she liked to see a strong representation of the theme and whilst a few of the entries had a weather element to them, and were very good images, the ‘story’ spoke of something other than the weather as their focus. All weather elements had been included – Sunshine & showers, snow & ice and wind & rain
The open section was as usual very varied with portraits, lanscapes, still lifes and nature all on offer.
The results are as follows:
Themed
1st Chris Mowthorpe – Passing Storm Buttermere
2nd Martin Barber – Somerset After the Storm
3rd Lynne Thomas – Storm on its Way

Sadly we had to say goodbye to our Programme secretary, Sarah, last night. She is moving away and so last night was her last meeting with us (though she promises to visit once in a while). She will be greatly missed and we all wish her well for the future. Good luck Sarah.
Next Weeks meeting is at the Rugby Club and is a talk by Stephen Spraggon – ‘Four Seasons’
Message from Polly: It's time to start thinking about our March Competition on 25 March with final date for entries on 11 March. The Themed is 'An Urban Mono Scene' with the description 'An urban setting, could include people etc in the scene, in mono (black and white or toned in one colour)'. Also as usual an open section and this is a DPI competition. The judge is Simon Caplan who has spoken to the club on a couple of occasions.
Please make sure that you enter your images correctly on the website. A maximum of 3 entries per person, which can be spread over themed and open section how you want, please check that you have entered the images into the section that you intended!
