Battle versus Chard
Last night saw the welcome return of the Battle with Chard which we have not been able to hold for a few years for obvious reasons. It was good to see so many members from Chard Camera Club had made the journey. Our new venue coped well with the increase in numbers. Thanks to all who brought refreshments and helped with the hospitality - the fruit cake was particularly praised!! Paul Carter's contribution, I think.
It was also good to see Peter Fry, our judge for the evening, always a welcomed judge who gave a fair and well-reasoned judgement. He stressed that these were his opinion, as it always is!! As the competition progressed no one knew who was in the lead, as the images were displayed in alphabetical order, which all added to the suspense!! Eight images were held back, 5 from Wellington and 3 from Chard. Peter spent some time talking about the two images that were in the top two positions - Debbie Hammond's (Wellington) Scotney Fairy Tale and Chard's Waiting for the Tide. In the end he gave first place to Chard and second (and 3rd) to Wellington.
The final result was a win to Wellington by a small margin - 356 to 345!! Well done team Wellington!! Our results will be published on the website.
Next week in our February Competition over Zoom because our usual meeting place at the Rugby Club is not available and is obviously PDI's. A link will be forwarded to you at the weekend, as usual.
Our competition this month is 'People at Work and Play' and the usual Open, and our judge is Mac Chivers.
There were no other notices. I would like to say that I have not received any replies to or comments on the report that I sent out last week on our committee meeting, please do think if you can help in any way, the club cannot continue in its present format without more help and people on the committee!!
