January Competition.
27/01/2021
We had a nearly full house last night for the meeting and January Competition, lovely to see so many friends.
The 4th round of the 2020/21 Season was judged by John Hudson ARPS DPAGB (this is the link to John's website, some great images!!)
John is an experienced photographer but new to judging, and I think it is fair to say that he was harsher in his comments than some judges we have had and didn't see the humour in some of the images. He emphasised that he could only offer his opinion and offer some advice. In the themed section he felt that some images did not meet the brief of 'Lockdown Life' and clearly were marked down because of this, stressing the importance in this section of not only submitting great images but that they should fit the theme.
14 Members won awards indicating what a broad range of ability we have in the Club. There are a few changes to the informal League Tables but it is still far too close to call with 2 Rounds to go; hand-in for the 5th round of Comps (Happiness and Open) is on Wednesday 10th February although as always earlier hand-ins would be very helpful. Great to see so many members win awards and so good to see some names that don't usually feature and our new members also feature. I [Polly] was shocked and delighted with my results, a thing that I doubt will ever be repeated!!
