19th August 2015 - A new season beckons

In a preliminary meeting before the new club season starts in September, Chairman Peter Tickner welcomed camera club members to the Wellington Arts Centre last week. This was a chance for members to review the club’s summer activities and to look forward to the new programme of photographic events. The club had been very active during the summer break visiting Glastonbury, Bodmin Moor, Dartmouth, Burnham-on-sea and Exmoor. The Exmoor trip was especially memorable as it involved a 1950’s bus and club members thrown back in time as they tried to recreate that period by dressing accordingly. Inevitably there are some rather unusual and bizarre images from that trip! The club was also kindly invited by Wellington Bowmen to try a different type of shooting and an eager group turned up to fire at targets which were clearly not close enough given that quite a bit of time was spent searching behind them in the grass for their arrows.
Peter thanked everyone for their help with these trips and for keeping the club running during the summer recess but now it was time to look forward.
The next big event for the club would be its participation in Wellington Flower Show. This would be an opportunity to exhibit club images and to talk to visitors to the show about the activities of the club. It is hoped that the display will encourage any new or keen photographers to think of joining the club when it starts again and details can be obtained from members of the club who will be manning the stand on that day.
Wellington and District Camera Club has a very full programme of activities for the coming year and is also involved in following and photographing the re-development of Coldharbour Mill in Uffculme. This will eventually lead to an exhibition of club photographs of this project.
There is always plenty going on at this friendly club so if you are interested in photography please come and see us,
