Bodmin Moor Day Trip Details

Day Out to Bodmin Moor – Sunday 5th July 2015

Meet at Minions car park on Bodmin Moor at 11-00am
Directions. Via M5 and A30 to Launceston. Stay on the A30 up the long hill to Launceston, then take the second slip road/turning off the A30 approx 100yards to a roundabout. From this roundabout turn left onto the B3254. Follow this for approx 11 miles (heading towards Liskeard) to Upton Cross turn right signpost Minions. Approx 1 mile park in the large car park opposite the pub.
Car Share. Please let me know if you are joining us for the day and if you have a spare seat in your car, alternatively please let me know if you need a lift!!
The pub does quite good food but I suggest we all take a picnic lunch to eat on the moor,
Apart from the open moorland there are all sorts of industrial remains, this area and the adjacent Caradon Hill are littered with old track ways and remains of our mining history. Our first port of call will be Cheesering Quarry and the Cheesering itself and then the Pipers Standing Stones ( a good place for lunch) then onto the Hurlers Stone Circle. Time permitting we could then wander onto Caradon Hill.
Our last port of call will be a short drive to visit Trethevy Quoit.
The weather will determine my next move !! If the conditions look good for sunset shots I may well stay on the Moor till late, but of course folks can head off home whenever they wish.
Have a good day..................Peter
