9th October 2013 All about practice

Vice Chair Maurice Sadler kicked off the evening with a summary of the recent skills survey aimed at collating member’s training requests. Among beginners, camera operations and editing software were tops, the latter was also top with intermediate users. Included were questions on favoured subjects; landscape was top closely followed by wildlife, while architecture is least photographed . Committee will turn these results into courses, seeking the support of experienced members for delivery.

Main body of the evening followed with informal tutorial groups covering camera operation, depth of field, and preparing images for competition. These generated plenty of questions and discussions, hopefully enabling members to follow up with practice.

Meeting closed with a selection of projected images from the RPS Nature Group, covering insects, fish, birds and mammals, all top quality for composition and focus. A busy and full evening, with an enthusiastic round of appreciation.
